PROJECT DESCRIPTION

ASSETS: CHARACTER ILLUSTRATION, WEBSITE BANNERS, ICONS, A-FRAME SIGNS.

Image West Hair Design is a curly hair salon and retail centre on bustling Broadway in the heart of Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood. The business wanted to refresh their marketing with a new website, and attract customers from the street with some new signage. It was important for the salon to communicate their specialization in curly hair cuts and products. Image West wanted an eye-catching, unique, illustrated approach that welcomed a variety of customers and curl patterns.

I created a cast of illustrated characters in harmony with the owner’s ideas about representing their clientele and inclusivity. I illustrated the banners for each of the website’s pages and provided feedback (in collaboration with the owner) to the website designer for the aesthetic direction of the UI. I also designed the icons representing curly and straight-haired clients, the former of which was used as the site’s favicon. The logo was an extant element of the brand. For this project I used Illustrator.
